Good morning all- I'm at work now - it's Friday, ya know - garage sale day. Ran into Margo at a nice estate sale yesterday morning. 'Round here, the Estate sales usually start on Thursday, 25% off on Friday and 50% off on Saturday. By Saturday, there's not much of anything that you'd want left. Anyway, I usually see Margo somewhere. You'd think we planned it. Guess we both have a good nose for which sales to go to cuz we see each other alot. We're looking for different things usually, so there's no competition. It's good to see her - she's become a good friend, got a big hug from her, and she always has on some of her beautiful vintage T2T jewelry. She is so talented - she can take trash and make into something beautiful. If you've not visited her site you should! I love her new project with the door. I saved a couple of doors from our farmhouse, so maybe I can do something along those lines someday!
I have to go buy another memory card for my camera. That's why there's been no pictures lately. My lovely Princess lost my card for me.
I did get a few goodies from the sales. Hope to post some photos for you this weekend maybe. One of the estate sales I went to was the home of Mrs. Gaiser - she was a Sunday School teacher of mine when I was young and I went to church with her for part of my life - she is in a nursing home now. She had a party for our GA's class at her home, and when I went in there yesterday, it brought back fun memories. Her home seemed not to have changed at all. In fact, she had alot of the same items there from 40 years ago. It's fun to go into people's homes and see their lives - where they've traveled, the mementos that they've collected, what was important to them. I bought a pretty green vintage cracker tin with a crystal knob, an old hankie, some wooden spools of thread, some OLD TV trays, & an old enamel-ware foot-bath style pan. Today I found a birdcage with pink roses already in it for Princess' room and a nice swag wreath that only needs the ribbon changed out. I did pretty good. And everything was fairly cheap.
What am I going to do? My husband thinks the farmhouse should be completely decorated by now? He wants to know why I'm still buying stuff. Can you imagine? How can I stop going to sales now? It's in my blood. Is there a place where you can just say, OK that's all? Can you ever be finished? I don't think so! This has become a habit now. It's too late - it's terminal. Thursday and Friday mornings just wouldn't be the same if I couldn't go to some sales before work. My boss is getting used to me being 15-30 minute late. Besides that, I'm used to seeing Margo around. What would she do without me! :^) Hubby's just gonna have to get over it!
By the way, I appreciate your sympathetic comments about me whining about "empty-nest syndrome". I'm sure I'll be alright. You know, when you have a little "discussion" with your child that's about to leave, you just want to pull your hair out and give 'em an extra boot on the backside on the way out the door. Then you wanna pull 'em back in and hold on tight. I'm so happy right now cuz my Nashville boy is here for about 10 days! Does a mother's heart good!!!!!!!
Have a great weekend everybody - stay cool! Love you all - Vickie

He wants you to quit shopping estate sales? Oh my! Tell him that that's the best bang for his buck anywhere. You could be shopping at the mall or a the high-end stores for flea market look alikes at top-end prices.
It must be wonderful to have things to remember your teacher by. I'm sure it would make her happy, too.
I'm eyeing some of Margo's jewelry very closely these days. I'm about to make my move!
Hi Vickie,
I am so happy your son will have a nice long visit. Have a funtasic weekend with your family....Mary
LOL!! It is always fun when we bump into each other at the sales. Sounds like you got some great stuff. Tell that Husband of yours that the GS and ES keep you out of trouble. And you've made a new friend to boot.
And tell that son of yours not to write on the Toilet seat this visit:)
let's have lunch.
Margo
Hooray for your son being back in the nest for a bit - I'm NOT a shopper of any kind (well groceries maybe) so you just keep going out there and doing my part AND yours - sounds as if you truly enjoy the hunt whether you acquire more treasures or not!
I'm late - but I wanted to say hi! I've been meaning to stop by and leave a comment but you know how thost things go!
Tell that hubby of yours it is better to be shopping garage sales than jewelry stores!
Hugs,
Tina
It isterminal. My hubby has it much worse than I - he sells only to support his passion for treasures. :) Devonia
