The sun is going down and everything is golden. We have a small pond on our place and it's pretty full right now. In the summer it goes down but hasn't gotten dry, thank goodness. Jake likes it. He found a beaver out there one day, think I've mentioned that before.
I SOOO wanted to have a photo to show you of our roadrunner. At our main home where we live right now, we have a sliding glass door on the back of the house. Yesterday, when I got off work, I went home and walked by the studio where the glass door is. There gawking at himself in the reflection of the glass was a tall speckled roadrunner. I stood right by the glass and he never saw me. I've never seen one do this--- He preened back and forth in front of the glass, looking at himself, cocking his head, ruffling up the top-knot of feathers on his head, spreading his tail feathers out, turning back and forth, admiring his beauty from every side. Or, perhaps he thought he was wooing a lady roadrunner. Who knows! You've seen parrots, parakeets and cockatiels do this, but I never knew roadrunners did! It was so cute. I didn't move for about 5 minutes. I finally backed up and reached for my camera. I edged around the corner of the house and as soon as he saw me, he bolted back into the pasture. Shoot!

I love that pic of your pond. Your new camera takes good shots. What a funny story about your roadrunner. He may be comparing himself to this other male he encountered. you know, like, "see my feathers, they are bigger than yours, and what about my wings, Oh yours are big, but mine are bigger"

Now this is a real pond! One like I would love to have for my ducks to play in. We have a roadrunner that comes everyday to get a drink. I can't get a picture of him either! Blessings, Kathleen
Lovely little pond...
Yes, some of the best shots are the ones that get away. Thank goodness you can describe them so well!
This photo is beautiful with the sun peaking through the trees...know you are enjoying your new camera. Your daughter is BEAUTIFUL and those gowns are gorgeous.
OMG, that's so funny! Your pond is beautiful..and I so would love to see a pic of the beaver!
Have a great day!

I thought roadrunners were only in cartoons. As far as I know they don't live in Pennsylvania. Stop by my blog, I have something for you.

Just love your pretty pond. A few years back, a friend told me about a road runner that came every day to her glass door doing the same thing. One day he brought a lizzard and offered it to his reflection. I think he was love struck. Either way, they are neat birds. Blessings, Kathleen
roadrunners are a favorite of ours - especially since they are great snake killers! I like the new look of your blog - charming picture.
Well I would have liked to see that!!! We don't have roadrunners up north!

Hi, Vicki! Come on over to my place! I've something to show you!
Breath~taking!
That's a very pretty picture. I would have loved to seen a pic of the road runner as I have never saw one. We don't have them here, I think maybe the chicken hawks and turkey buzzards ate them all.
Hope you have a great week.

I love roadrunners - when we moved into our house in the country in west Texas a roadrunner greeted us the first night - by pounding on the metal chimney inset with his beak. Apparently wanted us to know he was there first! Pretty pond picture and really love the new look of your blog.
Love your new banner! And I hope you get a shot of the roadrunner soon!!!!!!!
Oh, the pond does look like a perfect puppy paradise:)
Thanks for stopping by and wishing Ms. Sadie well, we were very lucky not to loose her.
Better luck with the roadrunner next time....
Rhonda
