Doin' Girlstuff...

Hi, I'm back from visiting my daughter at her college town. I don't have any photos for you tonite, but let me just say we had the best weekend. Of course, we spent the entire day Saturday shopping, eating, and visiting. I am so impressed with the growth I've seen in her in only a couple of months. She seems to be the most mature one in her townhome she shares with 2 other friends. She does the shopping, the organizing, the cleaning, etc. She shares in the cooking. Unfortunately, her friends are slobs, to put it mildly. My girl is becoming more independent and self-reliant and isn't that what we all want?

As we crawled up in her bed Saturday night to watch a movie, she laid her head in my lap and said "tickle me, mom". That was always our "thing". I tickle her neck and play with her hair, and arms and back. She loves to have her feet tickled too. Over the years, no tellin' how many hours I've tickled. When she was little she would curl up by me in the pew at church and I would tickle her during the sermon. Even now, when the sermon starts, she'll lay her hand across my lap at church for me to rub her arm and the palm of her hand.

As we were leaving church this morning to go eat lunch I was telling her how much fun I'd had this weekend with just me 'n her doin' "girlstuff", she smiled and looked over at me, and I said "you miss me" like she does to me sometimes. She grinned even bigger and said, " OOOOO-KKKKKay, I miss you."

I think she was glad to have me there in her world for a couple of days. I know I was glad to be in hers. I miss her, too.

What a sweet time with your girl - isn't it funny how quickly someone can change in a different environment? You and your husband must have done a lot right for her to be changing in such good ways! Glad you had fun and thanks as always for dropping by my blog. I didn't say anything last time I was here but I like your new blog look - autumn in Texas is really a special time!

Awwww...and, as challenging as it is, it is a good thing that you miss one another.

I love to be tickled, too, and my mother is completely to blame.

Awwwww...you two sound alot like me and Cassie. She loves when I rub her back...puts her instantly to sleep!! Makes me miss her talking about it!

They do grow up being away from home..I've noticed it too!

Glad you had a great time visiting her...can't wait to see pics!

OK, now there are tears in my coffee! It is wonderful to know that you have raised a strong and independant child.... but darnit, it just happens too fast! Thanks for sharing your special time with us:-)

BTW, my little one loves for me to rub his back... every night that's how he falls asleep.

Hi Vicki! I'm so glad that you stopped by for a visit. What an exciting adventure you've begun on your old farmhouse. I am so happy for you.

Sounds like such a sweet relationship that you and your daughter share. I have 3 boys and guess I will need to wait until I gain my daughters through marriage. But I can hardly wait to share those girl times!

Looking so forward to visiting with you again.

Blessings,
Lea

I stumble across you from Eggs in my Pocket site. I like what I see, and your visit to "Nashvul" was very interesting. I lived in Nashville for a few years, my first job was there back in 1958. My home is 65 miles West of there off I40. And yes, the hills of Tenn at this time of year are beautiful. I'll keep a soft place for my home State, but am very comfortable in Arkansas.
Anyway, I'll be back. You have interesting stuff. Love the story of your visit with your daughter doing girl stuff. Cherish the moment.

I can't believe it! My now 23 yr.old daughter did the same thing all her growning up years in church! Just a year ago when she actually went to church with us, she rolled her sleeve up and laid her arm, palm up in my lap!
