Hey, I have a couple of photos that I thought you might like from my trip 2 weeks ago to my daughter's. We went to Ft. Worth one day and ate downtown, and I was able to get a shot of this guy. I've seen him on the news before, but never thought I'd run into him. I didn't catch his name, but asked him for a picture - he said sure, but donations would be appreciated. I guess this is his "job".
His little entourage was very cute - a mutt dog, a mutt cat, and a mutt white rat on top. They walked down the streets of Ft. Worth like this attracting attention and posing for tourists. At times the rat would get tired, so the guy would scoop him up and stick him in his backpack, the cat would jump down and kitty and doggy would walk side by side on leashes down the street until it was time for the next photo shoot! Aren't they a riot!
I want one of these "mammy" toaster covers. My mom had one all my growin' up years but it had a blue calico dress on. I think I'm gonna make one... The shop keeper caught me taking this picture and fussed at me. Oops! More to come on this project....
The last HOO-Rah for my pansies. Our temps are finally up a bit, and before much longer, the heat will toast these babies. But they did look pretty in my wagon for the winter...
Just a little shot of my bedroom at the farmhouse. It's small but cozy, and this is the morning sun coming in the window through the lacy curtains. You wake up FAST! With the chickens! 'Scuse the box fan. We sleep with it every night for noise...
Ok, here's how we raise our young'uns - even the girls. Practicing shootin' with Dad. She's a good shot, too, so don't sneak up on her...By the way, "Ducks Unlimited" is done in pink fuzzy stuff.... We can still be stylish and look tough at the same time!

Vickie, we have that exact same box fan beside our bed. LOL Your room looks nice, even with the fan.
I've seen that guy on the internet. Just the other day, somewhere. How fun to see him in person!
Thanks for mentioning the cat poop blog the other day. Sorry I haven't had a chance to thank you before now. I also wanted to tell you that I check your blog every time I'm doing my catching up. But since you don't have your comments set to "anyone can comment", I have to use my Google account to comment which leads back to the old blog and that's not something I want to do, so I just read and stay quiet. A lot of people use that setting, either to keep down spam or because it's the default. No big deal. Just wanted you to know that I do still check out and enjoy your blog. :-)

I love that bedroom. What a wonderful place to get away to.
Now, I have to say that I hadn't noticed the fan but Warren has a C-Pap machine for his apnea. I always say if something happens to him I'll have to run that noisy thing just to be able to sleep.
lol
I got my hunter's safety patch once. Never hunted though.

Great pics! Love the bedroom. I don't think I would have noticed the fan if you hadn't mentioned it. Hubby has a fan he runs every night (a smaller, but equally noisy one) for the noise too - all those years sleeping at the fire house where they try to out snore everyone I guess!
I have had a fan roaring every night of my adult life! I have to have the noise to sleep.
Those were great pictures!

Wow, this post was PACKED with good stuff!!
That guy is so interesting. He's got his own little traveling circus there.
I also grew up with toaster mammie. We had the red gingham dress on ours. I think the hardest part will be making the doll sturdy enough to stand up. They are beautiful.
Love you cute room. Is that all you've got to excuse? That little box fan. Girl, you make me look so bad.
And last, but not least. I grew up around guns and knowing how to use one safely. The right to bear arms is one of the first rights our ancestors claimed because the British wanted to disarm the colonists. Can you imagine that? :O)
Interesting guy and sweet pets. I love the toaster cover too, are you going to make one then? Your bedroom is very pretty, we only have about 2 weeks in the middle of the summer when I break out the fan. Flowers in winter..amazing...we grow those all summer here because they are pretty hardy. Your daughter is so beautiful...ours learned to shoot too, like me..we're all good shots. Come say hi :D
that's crazy that those animals
would abide each other. pretty
funny, too!
what a darling girl you have.
Looking good over here! Your bedroom is so cozy and charming...we have a box fan, too.
Gotta have a fan for the noise! Love the bedroom. How often do you all stay at the farm?
Your daughter is lovely!
Hugs,
Tara
Hi!
I love that the dog, cat and white rat get along so well - how funny is that!
I would love to even have pansies growing - all we have growing right now are big ol' storm clouds - and did I mention it was cold!? Your pansies are lovely, The wagon is adorable.
Your bedroom looks like it should be in Country Living, it's beautiful, very cozy and inviting. Love the quilt on the bed.
We have taught all of our children how to use a gun and how shoot a gun - we are big advocates of the right to bear arms, so "way to go"!! I would love to have a pink gun - I have seen them before, they're way cute! Looks like your sweet daughter has good aim!
Have a great evening!
Hugs,
Barb
I was hoping you might post more pictures of your farm house bedroom. You have a lot of the same furnishings I have but yours is loads cuter then mine. May I use your picture if I redo my room?
Also, we have girls...folks need to know how to protect themselves and their property!

I love your cozy bedroom! .... looks like home, love and comfort!!
A dog, cat and rat.....wow.... what a combination! Too cute!
Your daughter is so pretty, just like her mother......
The pansies in your wagon are so pretty..... awww, don't you hate to see them go..... ? What's next?
Hugs,

I have never heard of this man and his entaurage (sp?), but it reminds me of the Bremen Town Musicians!
Love the Mammy toaster cover, the wagon full of pansies, and your room! All beautiful!
And, hey, it never hurts to practice ~ practice makes perfect!
So maybe she can shoot some of those gophers!
Blessings!
I have been thinking about getting one of those white noise machines, but a box fan might just do the trick AND it's more economical for sure.
Enjoyed the pics!
Love the quilt on your bed! Your room looks so comfy. Lucky you to have winter flowers! Pansies are a favorite of mine
I had to chuckle when reading and looking at photos of your daughter. Thats how ours were raised as well. Youngest was helping her dad "process" and cut up deer at age 7, as well as learning how to run table saws, and hive a swarm of bees, and run the rototiller. Her and her dad still get together to target practice. We were on our way shopping one very cold day a few years ago and came across a recently killed deer along the highway. She made me go back and get it (forget the shopping,Mom!!) got it home, strung it up and had it gutted and skinned in short order. Kids raised this way will know how to take care of themselves!
Chickie,
Did you steal my box fan today while I was gone? Nope, you didn't. Mine's still there. Girl, you and I were born attached at the hip.
Proud of that daughter of yours - she's learned from the best. My daughter just got herself a baby glock last weekend. Loves it.
The bedroom is soooooo beautiful! Can't wait to come down there!
Rick's coming home tomorrow; if I don't get back over before the weekend, have a BEAUTIFUL EASTER.
All 3 of our kids, including our daughter, received guns and some lessons regarding the guns before they were all grown up and out of the nest. Isn't that what any good parent teaches their children? Good picture of your daughter.Show that to any young man interested in her. Make sure a picture of her father with a gun is included.
Love your bedroom and that wagon of flowers Vickie!
That was fun! Thanks for sharing. Wishing you all a happy Easter.
girls need to know about guns just like boys...love your photos from you home...
I CAN NOT believe I dropped in to visit and saw you posting about the Mammy Toaster cover! I have the one my MawMaw had when I was child. After she died, my mom got it, then when mom passed away, I got it. Just this last weekend I CAREFULLY took the clothes off to wash, not knowing what I'd find beneath it. I've never washed it in the 3 yrs I've had it.
I will gladly take photos so you can make yourself one, it is very simple. You will see, mine looks almost exactly like the one in the photo, except Mawmaw's has a red and while polka dot dress!
I'll try to photograph it tomorrow; if you don't hear from me by the weekend, remind me.
I know they aren't politically correct but mine is not a racial statement, it's just a beloved item from my Mawmaw's kitchen!
