'Mornin' to ya'll. I woke up too early with a sinus headache & couldn't go back to sleep so's I thought I'd just tell ya a little about my weekend. Went to see darling daughter off on her spring break mission trip. We had a fun afternoon in Fort Worth, went to a Super Target (wish we had one) and scooped up all her little last minute items for her trip to Canada, went to dinner downtown and then crashed at her apartment. We had a wonderful visit and it's always fun to get all snuggly in bed and talk and catch up and visit until we fall asleep. I LOVE those times!

I left early as she had to get to her van ride to DFW and decided to spend some time in Granbury. I LOVE Granbury - it's full of antique shops, foo-foo shops, bed/breakfasts, a beautiful lake with gorgeous homes and good places to eat. I was going to stay only a couple of hours, but after talking to hubby I decided to linger and just ENJOY! The weather was absolutely perfect and there were alot of people there. Downtown is wonderful. If you've never been there, it's a great little weekend getaway with plenty to do! Following are photos I took of several local funspots and a few of the neighborhoods. There are TONS of little old cottage type homes there!
And some fine old German architecture right here in town! Lotsa Germans down in the central parts of Texas. Texas is such a BIG STATE, as you know... (puffing up chest...)
Next I have a shot of the Hood County courthouse on the square... Granbury is the county seat...
The streets around the courthouse itself were being re-done, so the fence draws away from its beauty - there again - a little German architecture. And last but certainly not least, a shot of a beautiful quince bush that was busting at the seams showing off its color ~
Tomorrow I'll have a few pics of the downtown Granbury area. I gotta git ready for work. Ugh...at least my head feels better - I think it feels better just looking at these pictures again and remembering what a nice I had all to myself ~ no husband telling me to hurry up and sighing deep sighs of boredom while waiting on me to amuse myself in the shops!!!

I need to go there one weekend. Isn't that where they have a big Christmas display? I love these towns so chock full of charm and old houses. I lived in New Braunfels for five years, so know about the German heritage around those parts.

Loved all this. I don't think I've ever been to Granbury...at least not as an adult! Putting it on my list!
What a beautiful little town! Too bad I am so far away - I would love to visit! Isn't it nice to have a day all to yourself sometimes? My husband does not find much pleasure in tagging along with me in antique shops, he's kind of a "git er' done" kind of guy!
It sounds like you had an awesome time with your daughter - aren't daughters the greatest gift?

I've never been to Granbury. It sounds like a great place to spend a weekend. Perhaps we should move our destination! I need to make reservations. Glad you had fun with your daughter and no one to tell you to 'hurry up':) Looking forward to more pictures...

Vickie, I love your blog. You have visited and left comments for me more than once and I just now discovered your blog. I have been slowly trying to visit all my blogg friends, I can't believe I missed you for this long. I love everything, the way you write which shows your love for God , family and Texas. Those are all big time in my life too. I looked at your old posts since the more I read the more hooked I got. Your little cottage, to die4, your kitchen, ok, every room, love, and then your big farm, that is really my dream, to be out there, free to use my power tools any time of the day. The picture you took of the snow, the best i have seen so far, the gopher counter, hilarious. Be happy, my pest of choice is rats. I think I got all mine by now since I have not seen any more droppings around the shop. Lasty, I got to get my butt to your end of town. I know your area got so much, it just that been in Central Texas make your area a long ride and if I'm going to drive that far I want to make it a mini vacation. I love those kinds of trips! firstly seeing your kids is always the BEST for me too, and then shopping alone is wonderful! Just taking your time and enjoying the sites. Looks beautiful! Wow was I excited to see pictures of Grandbury. I live in Oregon but I visit a friend every year in Granbury and I love that town. We have so much fun exploring all the shops and surrounding areas. My favorite place for dinner is Babe's. On my do they ever have great food and you will never go hungry!!!I also enjoy your blog and have you listed as one I follow regularly. I'm looking forward to the second post for it brings great memories of friendship.
Vickie - you were about 40 minutes south of me during your visit in Granbury - and of course FW is 28 miles away. Granbury is a fun town - I like it best in spring and fall - not so much in the summer (too many touristy crowds). Glad you had a good visit with the Princess and a good tour of Granbury.
It all sounds like a great weekend...I would love to do that..just take off, staying in BB's along the way! :D

My brother/sister-in-law lived in Granbury for several years. Loved to visit there, so much to see and do. Glad you had quality time with your daughter before she left. Running short on time, so I'll email later. ;)

Vickie, sounds like you had a grand time! Everyone needs a get-a-way once in a while , and time with grown children. I am looking forward to one myself this summer, to PA to visit some of my children and grands. Glad to hear about your daughters mission trip. Great choice!

Hi Vickie! I have misspelled your name and it bugs me so I had to come by to apologize. I love your blog and these pics are terrific. I am always loving to know what kind of camera you use. I am obsessing about needing a fuzzy free camera to blog with. I think part of my problem stems from flash overload! That is what Susan at Naps Between The Porch tells me. Vicki, I loved seeing the pictures of the old homes in Granbury again. My husband went to seminary in Ft. Worth (lived there a year), then we lived for three and a half years in Weatherford - We would go through Granbury back south to go home and visit family.
We've lived in CA for 19 years now (serving in a church here) and I miss those beautiful old homes. There isn't many of that kind here in CA unless you are in San Francisco or a few other places.
OK, I'm dumb. What State is this in? I think I need to move here. It is gorgeous.
