All through my last post I talked about "blue salvia". There is a blue salvia, but what I meant to say was that the blue flowers in my beds are "blue sage" - very similar but very different, too. So, I stand corrected (by myself).
I ran into this lady from California at the Blue Moon Gardens in Edom, Texas, yesterday and she was carrying around a leaf of this little plant she called "silver dichondra". I googled a picture of the 'silver' to show you but she was wantin' the dark green color - She wanted to cover her yard with it...
I told this lady that this was just plain ole kidneyweed (some call it dollarweed, but dollarweed is completely circular) and that if she wanted some all she had to do was come over to my house and dig all she wanted out of my yard under the shade trees. She said in California, people put this stuff in their yards and it makes a nice lawn - never have to mow it. Well, I guess here in Texas we have centipede, saint augustine and bermuda and we like to see a nice "stand" on our grass. 'Course we have lots of hot summer sun here in Texas, so we don't usually have alot of cool, shady, damp spots in our yards. She ain't from around here, for shore! Hope she's not plannin' on having a kidneyweed yard here in Texas!
In other news, I went to the "SPRING FLING" at My Little Corner in Noonday, Texas, on Saturday. It was fun. I was actually pressed for time, cuz we were having my sweet dad's 75th Birthday get-together-charcoaled hamburgers -n- birthday cake - with the fam - minus one grandson, SO I didn't get to shop like I wanted. I did get a few pictures for you, tho, and highlight of my trip over there was meeting a fellow blogger - Elaine from Soggy Bottom Flats! also Margo from Margo's Junkin' Journal was manning the cash register - she has a booth over there doncha know.
Margo has become a sweet friend of mine that I don't get to see enough - she's going 90 MPH all the time with her hair on fire. Her booth is well-stocked at all times - if you've not been over there, YOU NEED TO GO! I don't know where Margo gets her energy! We meet up at our local favorite Mexican Food restaurant from time to time to catch up! Here's a shot of Margo and Bill, one of the owners - he's real nice!
You really should see this place - might take you a couple of days. There are so many different vendors and lots of tastes and styles of antiques, vintage items, and junk - good junk, mind you - repurposed industrial junk decor is the "newest thing" in junk, so I hear.
This is a lovely lady from around Canton, Texas, way - meet Elaine, from Soggy Bottom Flats Quilting & Stitching. You should go visit her blog - she quilts beautifully and she has a gob of blogging friends that do, too!
Of course she was drawn to all the quilting stuff right off! Here she is again checking out some squares amidst some of the ever-so-cool stuff for sale!!! Happy hunting Elaine! It was SO nice to meet you!!!
You see that old vintage Coke cooler? Well, I WAS TOO LATE. I wanted it bad, but it was done got. Dang.
Well, there you have it folks. My trip to Our Little Corner. I did not spend any $$$ which was good, cuz my husband keeps tellin' me that I don't need any more junk. Can you believe that? But I DID get to meet Elaine, a bloggy friend, and I got to see my friend Margo again. Margo, I got a hankerin' for some enchiladas, girl!

That looks like a fun place to spend some time! And how nice to meet bloggers that you know, that will never happen to me here in my little corner of the woods! Come say hi :D
Sounds like you had a very fun weekend! Happy belated birthday to your Dad!!
Wish I'd been there; I saw a couple things I like! My packrat husband NEVER tells me I have too much junk already, but I know I do and try to remember most of it will end up in a garage sale some day. I've really cut back what with gettin older and havin to dust and all. Thanks for sharin'

What a fun place. How in the world did you avoid buying anything? Well, good for you!
It is so much fun to meet other bloggers.

Great time! How fun to meet some friends.
Great pictures of your fun weekend. Sure wish we had a place like 'Our Little Corner' near us. I've never met a blogger friend 'in person'..... that's cool!
Blue Moon is just about my favorite place on earth! If they had a place to sleep and a place to eat, I'd vacation there! It's an hour and a half drive for me, but I make the pilgrimage 2 or 3 times a year!
Wow, I see all sorts of goodies I'd like to take home in those photos! Don't worry, my hubby says I have too much "stuff", too, only he doesn't call it "stuff", most of the time he calls it "crap", sometimes even worse!
Wow! I wish we had those kind of little corners in my part of the world! You seldom find them in Idaho. Looks like you had a great time, I just love to look around, visit and make new friends at places like that - how was the enchilada?
Blessings,
Barb
glad you had such fun - the dollarweed story is a HOOT! I'm not much of a shopper for bits of this or that - most of my new "decor" comes from gifts - but that coca cola cooler - hmmm mighty tempting!
Hey, Vickie! I love sales like this. I had been looking for one of those old coke coolers when we had a herd of dairy goats back in PA. It would have done a fantastic job of cooling the milk in gallon glass jugs! Never did find one....
We have a 400 mile yard sale coming up here in KY in 2 weeks (first weekend in June)It will be on rt 68/80 and goes clear across the state! I am saving my pin money!!
looks like you had fun, fun, fun. So sorry you missed the coca-cola cooler!
That really looks like a place I'd love to visit only I want to spend money. :D
I'm thinking fondly just now of dollarweed. I'd love a green lawn that required no mowing. It's why I've allowed, and even encouraged, the moss.
Loved seeing the pic of you, you little cutie!
looks like fun...
Now,can you really have too much junk? Naw, not the good kind of junk!
It looks like a fun place to visit. I probably would have spent a few $$$$'s.
I have plenty kidneyweed, too, if the CA woman needs more. Sounds like we could dig a bunch up and make a trip to Californy and make a heap of bucks!
Thanks for sharing the corner place. Don't think I've been to Noonday before. Love the colors on the exterior! Yeah, Rick would have a coniption if I brought any more stuff home. ~
Talk to ya later, Chickie!
Now if I lived near-by, as in within a hundred miles of this place I would be there! I think the colors of the building alone beckon one to stop in. What a fun time for you, sorry you did not get the Coke cooler, But you got some nice pictures!
The shopping trip looks like it was fun even if you didn't get anything! I love the colors of the shops.
I had to laugh at the Dichondra story. Dichondra lawns are not that common around here because they are a pain to keep up even though they do not need mowing. It needs a lot of water, something we don't have much of here. I had a great aunt that lived in Bell, California that had a Dichondra lawn. It suited her perfectly, She kept a perfect little house inside and out. She had a postage stamp sized, shady yard so it grew well for her but she never let us walk on it because it would get brown spots so easily. I'm all for a lawn that can be used.
Thanks for coming out, and thanks for the shout out. Your pics are great I may have to steel them for a future post. It was good to see you, we need some mexican food soon.
Margo
