I had to go back to work 8 years ago. Before I went back to work, I usually spent a day a week with my parents, one or the other or both. We'd just visit and have lunch, Dad and I would work on a project I needed help with, Mom and I would go shopping or just piddling around. One of my goals since cutting back to 3 days of work a week was to go back to spending time with my parents while I still have them and while they're still in good health.
Today I did that. I spent the entire day with my mom. Daddy was busy getting something fixed on their 5th wheel, and so Mom and I went to town. I even took her to the DPS office to renew her driver's license. She told me I didn't have to go but I told her she'd be bored waiting if I didn't go with her. She laughed and said Yes she would! We did that, we went to the Christmas store ( I could spend all morning there!), we ate at Spring Creek BBQ, went to a Christmas bazaar at a local farm and finished up at Ross and Beall's. I took her home around suppertime. We just had the BEST DAY!
I'm just SO thankful to have my mother. She's an angel, I do believe, and I've been so blessed to have her in my life. She and dad have always tried to lead their kids and grandkids in the ways of the Lord and be good examples to us. I'm also thankful to be able to have time to spend with them again. We've got lots of catchin' up to do! They're getting older - heck, we all are! I intend to do this quite often. Mother has missed me. I'm their only kid close enough to do this with. What a wonderful day. I think it did more for me than it did for mother! Thank you God for my mama and daddy!

A sweet, sweet post...
I don't blame you for not continuing with one of those Daily Post Things. Posting daily, about what we want, is one thing. HAVING to post daily, about ANYTHING, is a *pain in the tush.* :-)
And now......
'Aunt Amelia' says;
Please HELP!!!
'Cause I'm getting just a *Gray Page of Doom,* when trying to change things, on my blog. -pout- -sigh-
Spending time with people you love WAY trumps blogging! We'll be here (when we are not doing the same)when the opportunity presents itself! Giving thanks for good blog friends!! Blessings ~ Tanna
I'm thankful for having my parents nearby too. Good for you for living out your thanks. Thanks to you for reminding me to be thankful for my parents.
Enjoy and be with your parents as much as you can..I am so thankful for the years we had together and miss them both greatly..especially my mom as we did so many things together.....
Dearest Vickie.... I am sure the Lord would say "Well done, daughter, you chose the BEST part".
Oh it sounds like a great day. I enjoyed reading about it. What a great picture of your mama and your daughter, too.
Now what's your Christmas shop like? Does it have only Christmas things or many different things? I've got to get back to mine because I need some apricot jam. (Yes, I do need it!)
You are not only blessed to have your parents with you still, but that they are the Godly parents they are, and your children are doubly blessed with you and your husband AND your parents.
What a lot of fun you are having!
Hi Vickie!
I have been following your Thanksgiving posts . . . not always leaving a comment . . . but following! They have been wonderful - you are very blessed!
I think it's so wonderful that you are spending time with your mom and dad! You look like your mom, she's very beautiful! I love spending time with my mom. I noticed the other day when I was with her, that she walked so stooped over and slow (she's 83)and I thought how hard it will be when she's gone... :0( I guess we just need to love them and make beautiful and wonderful memories while we have them with us,
Have a wonderful week-end and a very blessed Thanksgiving!
Hugs,
Barb

You do have so much to be thankful for! Your mom and daughter are lovely. Great picture. I spent Monday with my Dad while my mom went to an Open House thingy. Enjoyed every minute of it. I even watched sports channel with him. That was a stretch! LOL.
