Giving Thanks November 3

Today, I have been so thankful to God for the rain.  We've had a long, hot, dry summer - going weeks and weeks with no rain. The last couple of days, we've had a slow, steady, soaking rain - the kind of rain that makes us feel cozy inside, that is quietly dripping off the roof, just a little pitter- patter.  The kind of rain that soaks into the ground slowly but leaves no major puddles. A perfect rain.  My yard has greened up again, my roses are sprouting buds again for another flush of color before freezing temps shut them down for the winter. The kind of rain that darkens the skies later in the morning and earlier in the evening and causes a foggy blanket to hug our landscape here in east Texas.  AND if you're lucky enough not to have to work, the kind of rain that puts you right to sleep...zzzzzzzzz.....

I've noticed through my gardening the last 3 years that the natural rain from the heavens does more for my veggies and flowers and yard than the purified chlorinated water that comes through the water hose. I'm so thankful on this day for this blessing of rain on the earth under my feet here on Sand Flat Farm.

I sure wish I could have passed on some of our rain...we had rain everyday this summer and we are usually dry here. I love the rain right out of the Heavens too! ;D

Vickie, you are right on! So enjoyed the rain here, too.

Praise Him for your rain. I know how precious that is in your neck of the woods! His is always so much better than what comes out of the hose! And He always gives the right amount! I NEVER say I wish it wouldn't rain, no matter what the occasion. Living in Texas taught me the appreciation of water!

I need to ditto your thanks to God for the rain.....It's been dry here, and we had thunder, lightning and wonderful rain night before last.
Yes, rain is so much better than just watering!
Thanks be to God!

It's raining here and tomorrow it will again. I am not quite as thankful for the rain as you are. October was the wettest month on record so seeing rain again this soon... When the rain is needed and longed for, it can be the sweetest blessing. One thing I always notice, sleeping is very nice with the steady patter upon the roof. Hope that your sleep is sweet.

We got the nice slow rain here too. I couldn't keep my eyes open for two days. Have a wonderful day.

I agree that the rain from the heavens does make things grow so much better.
We have not been getting any rain here lately but we could see our first snow this weekend.
I don't really like a lot of snow this early.

I'm so glad you're getting the needed rain! I agree that it is much better than chlorinated water.

We had too much rain here in MO early in the growing season, so my garden didn't do very well. It seems lately that it is either too wet or too dry. What happened to that happy medium?

Have a good day,
Cheryl

Vickie,

I am sharing your thankfulness and blessings of the rain, we got a tiny bit too. We have been in a drought this summer and are about 12 in. behind in rainfall, I am hoping more will come our way soon and the burn bands will lift. So glad you got a good soaker! Have a great weekend!

Hi Vickie!

I have loved reading your "Thankful" posts! I am always thankful when the heavens decide to bless our neck of the woods with rain! We have had really warm weather this month, and it's kind of scary, because it's about time for us to be blessed with frozen rain!

So glad you are getting the much needed moisture in Texas, what a wonderful way to start the holidays!

Hugs,
Barb

You are so right about the rain being so much better for the garden! We had a wonderful soaking rain too this week and we so needed it --we've had a drought all summer and a burn ban has been on. Now a cold front is passing through--our first freeze tonight! Gotta get that big cactus in before tonight!
