More snow...

WOW - two years in a row - this is unbelievable!  Who'da  thunk it???  This is the wildest weather I remember in a long time here in Texas!  Last week, I missed a couple days of work because of icy road conditions, and today at the farm it was in the upper sixties.  We worked outside for a couple hours after church and lunch. I snapped a few pics the other day of the snow at the farm.  Indulge me, won't you?  This is such a rarity down here, I have to document it for those years when we don't see any!

Lots of tracks in the snow in my garden area.  Can you tell what these are???
CROWS!  I tell you what, we got lots of crows.  Last year, they picked my purple hull peas out of the ground before they sprouted, they poked little holes in my cucumbers and pumpkins.  I need to station one of my kids out back with a pellet gun or some bird shot.  When I get some electric run out to the garden shed, I can leave a radio on.  That'll keep em away some.

Just a little snow left around the garden shed.

Lookin' towards the back of the house ...

Mr. Jasper is following me around...

I sorta liked the way the shadows were laying across the ground...

Went down the pond on the Mule and we still had some ice on the pond and snow around.

A little trek through the woods.  It's amazing how much you can SEE in the woods when there's snow on the ground.

Now, I don't know if you can tell what this horse is doing.  Our neighbors behind us whose house burned down... The ice is melting off the stable roof, and this horse is catching the drips.  This was so cute!  I watched him for several minutes.  He turned and looked at me, and then went back to catching the drips off the icicles!

Jasper was so glad to have his people come outside and play with him. I just love his eyes - they are kind of turquoise-y.  He's so sweet.  He rears up on our legs like a dog and grabs our hands so we will pet him.  He tells me he's lonesome, but I reminded him that he HAD a playmate, Alice, but he kept chasing her onto the house and up into the big oak tree and so we let her go live with my future daughter in law.  I'm sure Alice is loving Miss Lindsey.  Alice gets to snuggle with Lindsey on the couch, and I think she gets to sleep with her, too!  I don't think she'd wanna trade back, do you???   ; )

I've gotta call a plumber tomorrow.  One of our pipes froze at the farm.  There was water standing in the bathroom around the sink.  I sure  hope it's not under the house, cuz we'll have to take all the skirting off the house and it's going to be a big headache to get to the pipes.  There's minimal crawl-space under there.  I dread getting into all that mess...

Hubby watched the Super Bowl while I dozed a bit.  Sometimes we have friends over or go to others' houses, but today we just chilled at home.  Hotdogs and Klondikes - how does that sound for Super Bowl fare?  It was purty good.  We didn't really have a favorite team.  It's not as much fun when the Cowboys aren't there, and they ain't been there in a few years.  I'm kinda disappointed in them. Oh well.

Have a great week, my dear friends!  I'll try to get around to visit everyone soon. I've been working alot - my other office person has been out sick.  I hope she'll be back this week AND leave her sick germs at home!

It is supposed to be back in the teens by Wednesday! Can you believe that? I sure like my 63 degree days better. ;) I'm glad Alice has found a good home. Take care.

We have more snow this morning!

I am over ready for spring.

I don't mind your documenting one bit. The horse catching drips is making his own fun, too. All a good thing. And thank you for satisfying my curiosity about Alice. I've wondered what became of her, but was afraid to ask. Sounds as if she's in a win-win situation. Hope that the pipes are okay. Nothing much more aggravating than frozen, nearly inaccessible pipes.

Hey there, *Honey-Bun*, I think it's just super that TX is getting to share some of our *Damn Yankee* SNOW! -gigggggles-

But no way, I don't want you sending up your hot TX heat, up to my neck of the woods, this summer. Nope. I can give but I don't wannnnnna' receive.

Can hardly believe a frozen pipe in TX! That part is not fun in any way. -pout-

Yes 'Mr. Jasper' has soul-full eyes. And he can look all Lonesome and all. But! He had his chance, and he blew it, big time.

I'm very happy for 'Sweet Alice', that she has the home she has now. Lots of cuddles, and NO being chased.

Gentle hugs...

Sounds like a nice relaxing weekend, Vickie. We are getting pummeled by snow as I write this; haveing a real white-out here! and I have rabbits to deliver to the truck about 2 pm. I do have 4WD so should be ok.

Love your kitty's pretty face. Too bad Alice had to leave. my little Izzy sits at the long door window waiting fo our cat to come onto the porch, then wants to go out to play. They get along real nice.

Hope your worker gets back soon, Have a great day!!

Love the kitty's eyes so pretty. We too had frozen pipes this go around. Yikes, hubby hasn't found out why the pressure is way down on the kitchen faucet yet.

Stay warm,
Mal

I was thinking of you while watching the news. Glad to see you didnt get the horribe weather that others did. A little snow would be nice and the photos look great.
A little of your TX heat would be great here as it is supposed to be summer, but all we have been getting is rain, and cyclones and floods here. I think mother nature is going through menapause!

Hi Vickie,
You sure have had a lot of snow. We do not get snow where I live just a lot of rain and fog also flooding in the streets.
Snow always looks so pretty, but I know its no fun to drive in.
Be safe and keep warm,
Hug,Elizabeth

Love your farm shots! Jasper is quite a handsome cat! I can't believe ice on the pond in Texas! Remember it in August! We are expecting 6 to 9 inches of snow here in central Arkansas on Wed. I'm SO tired of Old Man Winter!

Jasper must have a little Siamese in him....his eyes are gorgeous. It's good to hear that sweet Alice is having a good life.

Hi Vickie!

Thanks for the wonderful tour! The weather has been sooooo strange this year! We don't have nearly the snow that we usually get, but it has been really cold - I mean, like -30 some mornings!

I loved the picture of the horse - they really do have such fun personalities. Jasper is such a beautiful cat, I don't think I've ever seen a cat with that color of eyes! I'm so glad that Alice found a good home, and you will even be able to visit her, and give her some love, how wonderful!

Frozen pipes, yuck!! My husband is a pipefitter, so of course it was usually our house that had plumbing problems! Hope it is nothing too serious or hard to fix.

We just kind of chilled during the Superbowl too. It was a good game though, too bad Christina ruined the National Anthem . . . :0(

Hugs,
Barb

I haven't been out to my house since Sunday, but the cold got my rutabagas. I think the broccoli might make it. B and I probably walked a mile around the place when the snow was deep and found all kinds of animal prints. Human prints, too, from the neighbor's house around our pond to the dock. We walked around the pond to the backside of their house which might be 50 yards over the fence and stood there for a while, letting them know that WE know they've been coming over (trespassing) to enjoy our pond. That's life in the country.
Hoping the snow goes on past...That's why we live in Texas, right, Chickie?

Hey girl! I am enjoying every SNOW DAY I am allowed. It IS so rare for us here in NE Texas. Not complaining one bit. I can't believe I am home again today. My hubby is so jealous. That is one perk of being a teacher. The farm looks pretty all covered in snow. Sorry bout the broken pipe. We had one of those on hubbys shop last week. Electric bill may be out of this world.
hugs,
tara

It has been a very strange winter here too. We had weeks of sub-zero weather and a few blizzards but they blew through without leaving a lot of snow.
Loved the horse getting the drips.
Have a great day

I am with you - enough with the snow in Texas! One great thing about crows being around is they keep the grackles away - we also have several crows and since my garden has been reduced to almost nothing ('cause I'm lazy) I don't fight them. Spring is on it's way - been seeing robins and hearing the cardinals' territorial (hey baby come on over) calls.
