Hey guess what???
IT'S RAINING RIGHT NOW!
We awoke to thunder this morning and a nice steady rain has been falling off and on from the sky for the last couple of hours. I love it - unfortunately I'm at work, but it's dark outside and cozy inside, and I sure could use a nap. I knew it was going to rain - sinus headaches the last couple of days. Higher humidity... Think I'll lay my head down on my desk for awhile...
Just kiddin... Thank ya, Lord, for the rain. We've needed it so bad, and it'll take alot to get back caught up again, but I'm thankful for every single drop. 'Course, it's been so long since we've had any rain, couldn't find an umbrella anywhere at all this morning. But I really didn't care!
NOTE: Sand + rain = gopher trapping! Stay tuned for that!

Josh, my middle son, went up to Nashville to visit his big brother, Adam, awhile back and they sent me some photos. They went trekking through a wood - some big state park or something. They found a baby squirrel that wouldn't leave them alone. They took some pictures and then placed it back in the tree where they found it. I think it wanted to go with them. Don't know where the mama squirrel was. I hope she knew where her youngster was.
Is that not the cutest thing you've ever seen? I had a pet squirrel when I was a kid. Dad found it one day while hunting. It had fallen out of its nest and I believe he told me it was way up in the tree and part of its tail had broken off or been eaten off. He brought it home to us and we named him Shorty. He stayed til he was grown - Dad made him a huge cage. We fed him milk with a doll bottle and veggies and nuts and whatever else we thought he might like. We left the cage door open more and more and he would climb all over the outside. Daddy said he'd leave someday, and sure enough he did. I guess nowadays you'd call us "wildlife rehabbers". I've probably told that story before...In fact, I know I have!
NEW TOPIC...
Can you believe that Thanksgiving and Christmas will be here before we know it??? I'm really looking forward to the family being together AND of course all the wonderful things that we'll be eating! Something about family, friends and holidays calls for lots of yummy delicious traditional and non-traditional FOOD!
How are we going to keep our girlish figures? Now, when thinking about watching our weight during the holidays this year - let's do what genteel ladies in the past used to do.....
I mean, they're easy to swallow and you suffer no ill effects! How much easier could it be??? AND they're sanitized! Why hasn't anybody thought of this recently?
And keep yore dress down...

Tape Worms? Are you kidding me? They actually used to do that? Outrageous. Oh my.
Cute squirrel. Is that unusual behavior for a baby squirrel?
So glad that it's raining and I hope that it continues for a while...gentle rain...nothing that the ground can't absorb.
Thought of you last night. My husband caught a ground mole in a trap. Ugly little things aren't they?
Soooooooooo happy to hear from you TX gals, about RAIN. :-)
You too, know when the weather is changing, hu? Oh wow I do too!
Sanitized tape worms! I am nearly speechless. And you know how hard it is, to make me thus!!!!!!! Yikes!
I think a printing out of that old add, and placing it on one's refrigerator, could go a long ways toward loss-of-appetite. Which in itself, is the secret of weight loss, me thinks. Bleahhhhh... -giggles-
Gentle hugs,
"Auntie, The Pixie" ,-)

Think I'll keep my fat! LOL!
Thank the Lord for the rain!!! I am so thankful we have gotten some.
That poor little squirrel looks like he could use some groceries! Take care. blessings ~ Tanna
Aw, the little squirrel is adorable! His head looks so big for his body. Like babies do.

Hey Chickie Vickie!
So that is why I am home from school today with a terrible headache! I slept most of the day away and didn't even know it rained. I thought I had a bug or something.
I too think I will keep my fat! Ewww...worms! For real?
Hugs.
ewwwwww tape worms, I think Id rather stay the way I am.
Very cute squirrel, we dont have them here, shame really.
as for the rain, yeah!!!!!
we live in a very dry continet and we know all about drought, so we love to hear when others that need rain get it.
Please tell me that was someone's idea of a joke....ugghhh...tapeworms.
Love the little squirrel photos though. So glad the guys weren't bitten. I tried to rescue a chipmunk from our cat once when I was a kid. That chipmunk bit me good!
And I was worried about what i'd get people for Christmas. I wonder how much you'd save by the case on those! EEeeeewwwwww!
Hey, you want squirrel rehab? I could write you a book on that. Yes, it is that time of year. I don't know if the time is going so fast or if the retailers are just shoving it down our throats so early that we THINK we're behind.
Our empty nest meals will be very simple this year. My hub mentioned going to Florida!

Oh you got the rain too..........yea!! and it stopped my allergies for now!!!
Tapeworms..well they are using leaches again....I think I will do push backs instead
Great pictures of the squirrel...my son sent chipmunk pictures from Colorado...so cute,
oh YUCK! You are gettingtoo wild girl - too wild indeed. We got a little rain today also - yes we both have sinus headaches but need the moisture so bad I'll knock back some more decongestants and advil! Cute little squirrel - my mom "rehabbed" a hummingbird - Big Bird lived about 8 months - but never did get strong enough to survive outdoors. Cheerful story huh? sorry - and you can keep the worms - I think I'll just stay fat.
Such a cute little squirrel..... I hope his mama came back for him/her.
We've had some sprinkles of rain, sure hoping/praying for more!
I've lost 13#'s ...... but I KNOW that I'll gain it all back through Thanksgiving and Christmas...... these two wonderful holiday SHOULD NOT be so close together..... hard on the waist line.
Love your header...My kind of style..
Oh Vickie..wasn't the rain just the best? I was thrilled to hear those drops dripping off of the porch. We are in such need...
The cutest little thing I have seen in a while...darling!
Blessins,
shug
So happy to hear that you are getting rain.
That little squirrel is so cute.I love watching them play in our yard.
I could not handle the tapeworms.I think just the thought of them would make me ill so then I'd eat less.
Have a nice day.
Okay, I may get desparate from time to time but tape worms. No thank you. We women are really something, aren't we. Have a wonderful weekend. Patty
Hurray! You got rain. Can you believe some of those old rememdies??..........but you know..........I could use a couple of those worms...........sigh Loved your squirrel story! blessings,Kathleen
Hi Vickie!
So glad you finally go some rain!! I hope that you continue to get the rain as long as you need it, and that you find your umbrella!
What a cute little squirrel - he looked kind of skinny, hope his mama found him... :0(
I cannot even imagine why someone would eat a tape worm! I guess people were just as desperate then . . . as they are now!!
Hugs,
Barb
LOLOLOL! I'll keep my "fluffy" body, thank-you! (Thanks for visiting my blog and your comments)
Vickie --- this is hysterical!! Actually, years ago my husband had a sister-in-law who went to Mexico to buy these miraculous diet pills. Turns out, she was taking products that gave her tape-worms. We found out by watching the evening news and she went to the bathroom and started vomiting. The following week, she began treatment. So that's what you get when you buy Mexican diet pills! haha! And I can't believe the holidays are here again. They seem to creep up on me.

Oh sure, why hasn't modern medicine caught onto this sure-fire weight loss idea... all natural too !
I hope the rain has helped you add to your gopher count, some how excessive rain does not help us with the mole count though. I think the Pacific Northwest moles deal quite well with water running through their tunnels, DRAT !
That little squirrel is so cute, all I am thinking when I see the pictures is "awwwwwww".
