News From Down Under...

Well, they're mighty close to "down under".  Josh and Lindsey that is.  Arrived safely in Auckland, NZ, and have been staying with some church members in Wellington on the southern coast.  It's 6:31 pm CST here as I write, and it's 1:31 pm NZ time but it's Monday already there.  They spent Sunday with the church there and Josh said there were some Christians there from Malaysia that owned a nice restaurant downtown and they all went there for Sunday dinner.  The folks there have just been SO hospitable to them and have helped them get their bank account, cell phone, and car registration done.  This would have been alot harder to figure out without all their help. Tony and I are SO grateful to them!  And another wonderful Christian family took them under their wing, fed them, and took them sight-seeing, Antony and Jeanette.  Their beautiful pup, Toby, joined them on their treks.  Hope we get to meet some of these wonderful folks IN PERSON with we go visit!!!

They are having a ball, suffering from some jet lag, but in great spirits.  Today is Monday over there.  In about an hour, they will take the auto ferry over to the south island and head to Nelson for the night, and continue on to Hamner Springs Tuesday where they will check out their first jobs!  I saved a few pictures for you.  Josh and Lindsey said it's the prettiest place they've EVER been.
borrowed this photo from Jeanette...

(above) The Harbor at Wellington where they stayed.

I'll just let you look, as most of these scenes are in and around Wellington...

Here's my two Kiwi Kids with Jeanette and Anthony's border collie, Toby.  I love this picture that Jeanette took.  She takes great photos... They look like native Kiwis!  (whatever native Kiwis look like...)    ;)

Momma is doing okay.  After they got there safely and were on terra firma again, and after we've talked to them via Skype several times, and after they got hooked up with some Christian brethren and sistren - well, I'm doing okay.  It was tough on me and Lindsey's mom at the airport watching our babies check their luggage and head on off to the checkpoints.  The dads were great and they let us shed some tears and have several goodbye hugs and kisses and waves --- oh please, just one more hug!  I'm so glad they have each other, too.  They are so perfectly matched and compliment each other to a T. I'm not worried about them - they are in good hands - the Lord can take care of them much better than I can.  I just have to let go and let Him do His job.  It's getting easier, really it is.

Ok, that's all for tonight.  Sorry  I've been absent so long - hey, it's the season - well, almost...  Catch ya later!  Keep your dress down!

Oh Vickie....seeing these beautiful pictures reminded me of the beauty of New Zealand.....plus...the people are so friendly and accommodating....the food was so fresh and delicious (the seafood was the best I've ever eaten).

They're the cutest couple......aren't you blessed to know they love and have one another on this life experience.

Hope that both you mamas and papas are saving your pennies so you get to go visit NZ. What a beautiful spot on God's earth! They look happy and well and so there's not much more to hope for them except continued blessings. Keep us informed!

Hurting a little with you. I know it was hard to tell them goodbye. Comforting to KNOW in your heart that God loves them even more than you do. Praying for your sweet son and his wife. Blessings.

Hi Vickie!

It's good to have you back in blog land!

It's so hard to let your kids go. I can't think of a better opportunity for a young couple than to be serving others by doing the Lord's work, just think of it as God's college!

The pictures are just beautiful! I hope that you get the chance to go there and visit really soon!

Gentle Hugs,
Barb

Isn't it great when you KNOW the Lord has controll and is guiding and leading your children, that their lives are in HIS hands, the CREATOR of the UNIVERSE!!! Blows my mind!
Of course we are human and as moms, tend to want to keep them safe the rest of their lives. It requires releasing on our part, hard as it is. I will be praying for them also, Vickie. You just go on and rest in Him. And get those paint brushes out, girl!

How exciting! What an amazing opportunity to spend a year in New Zealand! I know their time there will be blessed and how wonderful that they have a Christian family to help them!
Thanks for for kind comments. For now I am working part-time so I can help take care of my daughter and her family. She is not out of the woods yet, so prayers are still needed. Also I need to find a way to get private health insurance so I can hopefully leave my job--that's affordable! Thanks so much for your faithfulness!

Vickie...thank you so much for sharing the pictures. I have them on my daily prayer list. I truly admire these two young kids for allowing the Lord to work in their lives in this way. What an awesome testimony. Praying for their families as well. I know this can be bitter sweet especially with the holidays just around the corner. So thankful that we serve an awesome God... He is our strength and portion forever..hugs

What an exciting and romantic adventure for Josh & Lindsey. I have heard from everyone who has been there that NZ is one of the most beautiful places they've ever seen. Guess you'll be visiting there soon as you are able.

I would cry too, but seeing this and how things have worked out, now they would be tears of joy ! Praise God they are safe and faring well.~

Hoping and praying the best for them. Cheryl and I read your last post about them and both said we wish we had done what they are doing for a year or two after we married. And your photos here were great.

Thanks for link to Hometown Seeds. I'm going to get some of their stuff. You have a good blog.
