My Mother in Law... and New Works

Hello......

Anybody out there?????

How's everybody faring in the snowy places?  Just took a hop, skip and a jump around blog land and there's quite a bit of snow out there!

I think we're going to have an early spring around here. At least I hope so. And I also hope that we don't have a late freeze!  I was going to get out in the garden last week and this week and get everything ready, but we've had a bit of cloudy wet weather for several days, and so it now needs to dry out a bit. Tomatoes will not go out til March tho...

Bad news...  My mother in law, Kathryn, has been in an Alzheimer's nursing care facility for several years now, and we got a call Saturday that she'd fallen and gotten a big goose-egg on her forehead.  She appears to be okay and it doesn't hurt.  Then, this morning, the hospice nurse called Tony after examining her and told him that his mom had a broken collar bone.  Good grief.

All I'm gonna say is we. are. going. to. have. a. meeting. with. the. director. tomorrow.  This is not the first time, nor the second, that she's gotten hurt.  I believe the ortho doctor is coming to see her tomorrow and see what we need to do. They've already done xrays and stuff.  I don't know what they can do. Will she be able to heal?  I know it must hurt when they move her and bathe her and dress her.

Chickens are laying purty good again. My yard is GREEN. Course right now's it's mostly weeds and those cute little yellow flower thingies that pop up.  The daffodils are blooming as are the tulip trees and the pear trees as well.  Two or three more weeks, East Texas will be getting into full springtime mode.  The famous Tyler Azalea Trails are coming up - I think - towards the middle to end of March.  They will have an art show and sale and I'm hoping to be a part of that.

I've painted a couple of paintings for Tony's new office.  Since he's in the oil business, he decided he wanted something sort of related to that. We settled on FOSSILS.  See whatcha think...

Nautiloids and Trilobytes

Paleo Fish

I've got one more in the works, Archaeopteryx.  It's actually been quite a fun project.  They are both 30" x 40" - Acrylic with lots of texture.

Well, off to do some hopping around - hope things are going your way!

Keep yer dress down!

Oh I am so sorry to read about Tony's mother. Such things are very worrisome. Hope that your meeting with the director is a productive one and that there'll be a good outcome from this. We found that we had to specify that we wanted a two-person assist for anything involving moving Nan even though she was a peanut and sometimes staff would think that they could go it alone.

Very interesting paintings for.the office. Are you sure that he didn't want an oil derrick in the middle of a field of bluebells? Probably too feminine. It must have been a lot of fun working on something so different from what you usually do.

Yes, it's pretty quiet out here. Must be all the love in the air! Happy Valentine's Day!

Oh.My.Gosh!Vickie! Those paintings are awesome!!! I'm am in as much awe over your paintings as I am Tanna's knitting! What awesome talent!
So very sorry to hear about your mil and her situation. I completely understand about your visit with the DON. I think Dad was better taken care of because of Mom being at the nursing home many hours a day. I know it's not possible for everyone, but I know it benefits the resident. I hope and pray she'll heal well and quickly. I feel for you and her.
Pray for these guys in the oil and gas business. Even though the price of gas is high, companies are sitting on things because of what O is doing to the industry. I hate it. What's it gonna take for people to wake up?!
Sorry for the soapbox here, Chickie.
Love ya, kid!

Hi Vickie! Nice painting. You are so very versatile in your painting subjects and seem to do them all very well!!
Hope Tony's mom's situation improves. I would be very straight with them and not allow them to avoid giving you solutions you need. Stick to your guns, Girl!!

So sorry to hear about your MIL. Being in a facility is nothing like being at home. It's hard for everyone. I hope your meeting with the DON has a good outcome.
Your paintings are wonderful! Love all the textures you've created with colour.

First of all, I think the paintings for Tony's office are awesome, really !

I am so sorry to read about Tony's mother, what a shame to trust her care to a place that cannot seem to accurately keep track of her health in a very serious way.

Now, just rub it in Miss Vickie...you have gardening weather and can plant crops and veggies now with success, we have a few more months before that can happen here.( unless we have a greenhouse)

I always enjoy my visit to your little piece of Heaven on earth, thank-you.(BTW, we got another mole yesterday)

Gah! A goose egg and a broken collar bone. Sheesh. Your poor MIL.

Your art work is to be envied! So wish I could paint like that.

If I were to plant tomatoes, and I do not think that is in my future...but IF I were, they would not go in the ground till the first of June. Oh, for an early spring!

So sorry to hear of your MIL's fall. I hope / pray the home will work to provide more watchful care over her. I hate Alzheimer's!!!!!!

We need rain so bad. However, my RedBud tree is already blooming, it thinks it's spring.

Your paintings are beautiful!!!!

Sorry to hear about your mother-in-law.. tough times. I hope things start to move in a more positive manner..
I love these paintings - how perfect! You are so talented! I'm still trying to decide on what painting #2 will be. Leaning a bit toward our Banjo girl (Jack Russell).. she is 11 now and I would love to immortalize her with a painting. We'll see! -Tammy
