It's Been a Month???? Really???

I CAN. NOT. BELIEVE it's been a month since I posted.  Wow. Shame on me.  Well, I'm sorry, but it can't be helped right now.  Life has been busy, family has become of utmost importance to me - namely, my sister Lisa.  She's actually feeling pretty well right now.  She went without her chemo for nearly 3 weeks because her "numbers" on her blood, etc., were too low.  The Dr. kick-started her and gave her some treatments to build her blood counts back up and she was able to take her chemo last Friday. Tomorrow, she'll have it again.

However, we've been able to spend some time together.  Our families met up in Terrell to help Daddy celebrate his birthday.  We had a great dinner.  Then Lisa's husband brought her to Mom & Dad's house and then she came and spent a couple of days with me.  We had such a good time, just visiting, drinking coffee on the deck, listening to the birds, putting up green beans, and just being together.  She is so precious to me - I can't even explain it to you... I covet your continued prayers for her and I thank you from the bottom of my heart!!!

It's that time of year for the garden to start giving forth its bounty. (Actually, we're about a month behind this year, but no matter...)  I've been putting up green beans in the freezer and pulled up my plants just yesterday. I will be planting something else there in a day or so. Blueberries are about ripe, grapes are growing, tomatoes are coming on as are the squash. I have pintos and cukes and purple hull peas, too. And a little corn. June promises to be SO busy.  Bad news is that the late cold snaps got most of the fruit trees around here - the peaches are going to be sparse and my plum tree suffered, too.

Adam did a concert down here at our annual Lakefest and it was wonderful!  His single "There's A Girl Out There" is now on the radio and you can call and request his song on your local country station I imagine. We are hearing it on our local station now!  Take a listen to his new single!

On YouTube here's a link to his awesome VIDEO ---  http://youtu.be/oW1J7Zi6RmY

You can also download it from iTunes, too!  Adam Fears "There's A Girl Out There".  Also check out his new soon to be released single "Golden Graven Road", also on iTunes.  It's a tear-jerker so get your tissues ready! I love it, too!  I have it here on ReverbNation --- http://www.reverbnation.com/adamfearsmusic

BLOGGER MEET-UP!!!

Of His Pasture - Debbie (and a sweet friend of hers, Mona) and the other Debbie - Wisdom -  welp - we all met up in Jefferson, TX - quaint little victorian town with shops, B&B's, eateries, complete with a bayou boat ride with alligators and cypress trees AND a sweet carriage ride all through the historic part of town!  Good food and new friends!  We've been friends for several years now, but I'd never gotten to meet Debbie (Of His Pasture).  "Wisdom" and I have met up several times and we were thrilled that those two gals drove all the way down to Texas.  Of His Pasture has written about our trip so I won't repeat all that. But I will say that it was SO good to meet Debbie (OHP) and her friend Mona.  It was a wonderful day!
L-R Debbie (Wisdom), Mona, Vickie (me) and Debbie (Of  His Pasture)

Our very fancy carriage ride!
 LOVE LOVE LOVE Horses!

Coupla pics of cute victorian houses - I think this 'un was French styled...

Notice the sign on the golf cart...  "Bleed Maroon"  (Gig 'Em, Aggies!)

Well, gotta close now.  It's getting late and I've got to hit the floor running in the morning. Hope things are going gangbusters with all y'all.  I'll be back soon!  Take care and I'll get by to visit before long!

And Keep Yer Dress Down!

Nothing like a little diversion with some cyber friends. Course then they turn into real people just like everyone else. Does that take the "specialness" away? ☺ Loved reading Debbie's version, too.

Glad to know that Lisa is feeling much better and able to help you put up beans and celebrate family events. (My sister, bless her, thought I might like to help her dig out a septic tank. Sisters!)

The night with Adam sounds like such fun. I'll get back to listen to the new song when I have a tissue box and feel like crying. LOL!

I was just telling Sam last evening how excited I am to have "Adam Fears" mom as one of my blogging friends...
I have heard his song and it is great. What a GREAT singer he is!! I know this is going to be a big year for him....glad your sister is doing well. I honestly know that prayer changes things. I will never ever forget all the people who earnestly prayed for our little grandson (Tucker) when he had leukemia. Your sister is on my prayer list!
Hope you all enjoy the wonderful weekend that is ahead..
hugs

So glad to hear good news about your sister. Adam has such a wonderful singing voice and Golden Gravel Road made me cry! Such talent.........the best wishes to him to keep successful! Vickie, on my blog, you asked me about growing pumpkins. Some years are great years, and some like last year were bad. The drought here and the wind and dirt play such a harsh treatment on them. Like you, I have problems with those bugs. I always plant in the middle of May or early May, because if that batch fails, I can plant again by June and hopefully get pumpkins by fall. My plants are up right now and seem to be healthy, but they can always turn at a moments notice. I hope this helps with your questions. You have such a green thumb, I am sure you will do well with yours. You might try seven dust granuels this time...........it lasts longer than the dust and works from the ground up. Good luck. Blessings, Kathleen

Vickie --- prayers for your sister are a high priority. I think of you two often since I have a sister and know the bond is hard to explain. I'm happy to hear that you two are getting to spend such quality time together. I've been doing the same with my dad, whenever possible.

And the news about Adam's song is awesome! I purchased it from iTunes! He is making such progress to be on the radio and we celebrate for him and the family!

Planting is something we don't seem to have time to do and I fear the season will pass us by without a garden, the first time in YEARS for us to not have fresh herbs and vegetables. I probably could sneak in a seed here and there, but these blackberry vines are horrendous and will hopefully become tame once the mowing continues.

God bless sweet gal!

Vickie, I'm so glad your sister is able to start chemo again. Sending prayers for her - and all of her earthly angels as you love on her.

Adam's new single is great. You have so many reasons to be proud of him! I also love Golden Gravel Road. It just tugs the heartstrings of this ol' Texas gal. (Moving me out of the greatest state in the country didn't take any of the country-music-lover out of me. Besides, now I'm only three hours out of Nashville!)

Thanks for the Jefferson pics. The antique sofa in my living room came from a shop there 18 years ago. So glad you got to have a blogger meet-up. What a great place for it!
