Here's y'all a twitter that's not a twitter...
My husband came out of the bathroom last night and handed me a bottle of shampoo.
"Here, go put this up somewhere that I can't use it," he said.
"Why?" said I looking puzzled.
"Cuz I just washed my hair in it," said he.
I looked at the bottle, good sized clear bottle with bright orange lid, says 'Hartz" on the label - "flea & tick".
Oops - Hayley must've left it on the tub the last time she bathed Bella.
"Well, at least you won't have fleas!" I busted out laughing!
He was not amused.

EPHEMERA
I know there are alot of you "paper artists" and ephemera collectors out there that might appreciate my post tonight. While going through some of my in-laws' things I ran across a few dozen postcards, etc., some of which I thought I'd show you all. We're trying to gradually get things cleaned out and organized for an estate sale, since my sweet MIL won't be going back home to live. We need to either sell the house or rent it out.
I don't know about the Bible cards, but the Postcards date back to the '40's. Most of them were from family members to Tony's folks.

I found two little sweet Bible story cards. There's a short story about the picture on the back of the card and a memory verse. The cards are all numbered so I assume there was a whole bunch of em at one time. This first one is Timothy. The second is Jesus. I've never seen these cards before...
Now these next few are just some funny postcards, and then a couple of really vintage-looking cards - pretty cards.
And how's this for some Texas cow-punchin'????
This final photo has a story behind it. It was sent to Miss Callie Dee Stringer in Big Sandy, Texas, from one Leebron Malvern Hill, a young gentleman who'd begun courting Miss Callie Dee back in the 1940's. It seems he was quite sweet on her for awhile and she fell madly in love with him. He promised to marry her, and even gave her a ring (which I have). It's a wide gold band with a swirl of small diamonds across the top created for a small finger. My MIL was given the ring by her Aunt Callie later in life. The ring was a token of love and affection for the young lady, or possibly even an engagement ring or a gentleman's pinkie finger ring.
Miss Callie waited and waited upon Mr. Hill to make up his mind when he wanted to marry her. But alas, other interests came calling Mr. Hill to ramble about and he found himself in different parts of the country - last place on his post card to her was from North Carolina. His love for Miss Callie Dee Stringer waned, and so he gradually fell out of touch. She was left with a broken heart and a gold ring on her finger. She never married. I don't know if she never had another opportunity, or just didn't want to or just pined away after Mr. Leebron Malvern Hill for the rest of her life. Quite a sad little story.
Well, that's all folks - except Good Nite!

Islam on Capitol Hill????????????
WHAT IS GOING ON WITH THE MUSLIMS PRAYING ON CAPITOL HILL??? I just heard about that - where have I been? My daughter called me earlier this evening and asked me if I knew. What is our country coming to? We're heading for Islam quicker than I thought!
Check out Pamela Gellar's Atlas Shrugs blog. She posts on this happening and It's rather lengthy, but she sheds alot of light on this subject and some background on the two Muslim guys that will be leading Islamic prayers from 4:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, September 25, near the area on Capital Hill where our Presidents are inaugerated. It's also reported that 50,000 some odd Muslims from mosques all over the US will be in attendance to desecrate the lawn of our White House. And, one of 'em said the "White House will become Muslim House". Unbelievable!
Islam is not going to take over the US by violence - Islam is going to take over from the inside using "nice" techniques. This scares the pee-diddle out of me and enrages me at the same time. How can Obama bring all these Muslim leaders like Qaddafi, among others, into our country!!! I'm all for freedom of religion, but when we have had personal terrorist attacks on our cities, and our citizens, HOW ON GOD'S GREEN EARTH CAN OUR PRESIDENT BE DOING CRAZY THINGS LIKE THIS? The comments on this post were very interesting and informative, too. Check out this blog: http://atlasshrugs2000.typepad.com/atlas_shrugs/2009/09/islam-on-capital-hill-.html
VERY INTERESTING!!!
Qaddafi was refused in 2-3 different areas to set up his tent on their properties, one on Central Park, and I forgot the other places. Donald Trump is allowing Qaddafi's tent to be set up on Trump property.
I'm also mad as heck about the elementary school teaching their children some songs about Obama, and one of the songs only substituted the name, Obama, for Jesus' name, in "Jesus Loves Me". Now they couldn't sing "Jesus Loves Me" in school but they can sing "Obama Loves Me"? Come on, give me a break! Hell-OOOO??? Is this not brainwashing indoctrination stuff? Just like Hitler???
And what about that nutcase Chavez (Castro without a brain - according to Bush)? He spoke at the UN after President Bush a few years ago and said Bush was a devil and the podium smelled like sulfur. Then when he spoke after Obama and said the podium no longer smelled like sulfer but now it smelled like hope. What a crock of malarchy!
Ok, there's my beef - this Islam crap really gets me going. I have no faith in our government nor in our president. I'm a Christian and I'm supposed to love all peoples, and I do, but as Christians we still have to draw the line, and we still have to protect our country. I'm worried about our nation. Never in my 52 years have I actually been worried about our country not being the number one, most powerful, most safest, most Christian, in-the-right -place in the world. Now I know and believe that God is in control, but have we become such a sinful nation that I wonder - will we be allowed to go into slavery to another? We all sit around and complain and get mad. Let's get out there and unite and make a difference. Let's take our country back. If somebody has a good idea on how to go about taking it back, I'm the first in line.
Come on people, I'm no political analyst as you can see. Am I way off base? Have I said anything that is incorrect? If I have, please correct me. I want to understand. These are my opinions and I'm stickin' to 'em unless somebody can change my way of thinkin'.
Whew! Calm down, Vickie. I watch too much Fox News. I think I'm moving to Australia.....

Roadkill (maybe?)
I ran into this little guy this morning on the way to work (not literally). I stopped to get a sausage biscuit at our local McDonald's (the slowest one in the state of Texas) and this booger was strolling around in the parking lot. Now mind you, this is quite a busy street in our little town, and it was totally out of character for a wild animal to be at this particular location.
I say "strolling"... he was actually wandering around in circles, head down, confused, staggering, falling down, getting back up. RABIES, I imagine. There were several people standing around outside keeping a watchful eye and someone was going to call the Animal Control folks to come get him. I had to go on to work.
Poor little guy. If he DIDN'T have rabies, then there was certainly something else wrong with him. My son Josh was in the car with me, and there were people waiting in line after me. But whoa, a PHOTO OP! Who's gonna pass up a good photo op for blog fodder! I keep my camera in the car alot (now that it's not 103 degrees), so I whooped out my camera like a six-gun and snapped off a couple of photos before gittin my breakfast. (maybe that's why our McDonalds is the slowest one in the state of Texas??? Maybe there are other people who also like to take pictures at McDonalds???) Anyway, I felt sorry for the raccoon - I'm sure he was about to meet his demise either way - if Animal Control didn't get him purty quick, he was sure to get creamed out on the highway and be roadkill for some buzzard's supper!
Which brings to mind a story - my nanny had a couple of pet 'coons when she was a kid. She said they were lots of fun and would come and dig food out of her pockets (or anybody else's) and look for food in her hair and behind her ears - she said it tickled. Until the male reached puberty - then he got mean, and she had to take him to the woods to let him go.
End of story - wasn't that interesting??
THE END.

The Big 5-0

My sister is having a surprise 50th B-day party tomorrow and we'll be out of town for a couple of days. I promise to have a post up and running when we get back. It's been crazy busy around here which makes me brain-dead and unable to come up with anything interesting to say. And raining every single day for nearly a week now, but I'm not complaining. It's been nice and a bit cooler. I will be back next week & try to catch you up on what's going on around my neck 'o 'the woods! Have a wonderful weekend!!!

These pics were from last fall, but I'm in such a fallish mood, I wanted to see them, too! Hope you enjoy!!!
