New Farm Photos

Good evening all-

I've taken some photos of the farm this past weekend. Things are coming up green all over. And Pink and purple and yellow! I'm SOOOOOO behind on getting my garden out what with being sick and all. I have to learn to roll with the punches I guess. Anyway, thought I'd give you a little tour of the little bit we've done this spring so far...

I couldn't help but buy petunias and bouganvilla - they thrill my heart to see these brilliant colors that no paintbrush can match! Only God can make these colors! I set out some periwinkles, some little gardenia bushes (love that heavenly aroma) and we got our garden started. Dad's garden is well on its way. Mine will be a little behind, and if I don't get it out at all this year, I guess that'll be okay. We did get the onions, red potatoes, and carrots out. I've got seed for corn, squash, pole beans, purple hull peas and cucumbers. And tomato plants and pepper plants on the way.

Here's a little shot of the garden shed we revamped from that old dangerously leaning shed. We're going to run water and electric out there soon.
My husband set out peach and plum trees which already have little tiny fruits on them. We might get a couple if the crows don't get them. It's only their first year - I wasn't expecting them to have any fruit on them this year at all. We also have some new pecan trees.

Here are my gladioulus coming up. My grandmother's name was Gladys Ola, and my mama always told me that she was named after these flowers. I love them. They make beautiful cut flower arrangements. I got all different colors. I think there may be some day lilies thrown in there somewhere, too. I kinda forgot what I bought at Walmart...

Here's a shot of my little garden such as it is so far. I hope it gets bigger as we get more things planted. We tilled and raked and had it all looking great with no weeds, and now weeds are threatening to take back over. Guess we'll have to do that all again...

This is the back of our little cottage home and you can see the old pumphouse to the left. It still works and we use the well water for the yard and washing the car and the dog. ALso, we have this HUGE Live oak tree in the back yard which gives us shade most of the day. It's wonderful, except the birds poop on the deck. Oh well, a little bird poop never hurt nuthin.
Sorry, the contrast in some of these photos is not very good. I think I need a new camera. The Princess has drug my digital camera a million miles taking pics of her and her friends and I think it's tired... The east 40 acres - We have lots of fence to repair and gates to replace as you can tell. But I love it!

oops I put the fruit trees in twice and can't figure out how to delete .... ignore this one Never mind - I guess I DID delete it.

Here is little Bella 2. She is now 3 months old and a real pill. We are working on biting and barking. She minds me pretty well, however she thinks Princess (who is her "mommy") is her litter mate and chews all over her. There are little teeth marks on my kitchen cabinet corners and I noticed today that she has chewed a little hole in some of the sheetrock - we have plenty of chew toys and rawhide, and she loves to tear up a good cracker box.
I may have shown you this photo of her at 8 weeks with the tulips. Princess is having a ball with her. I'm glad. Especially after the first Bella died.
Well, that's all for today - I'm feeling a little bit better. I'm back at work toughing it out sometimes, but I'm there. Life goes on, and I can't just lay in the bed all day. As my Aggie Corps of Cadet son says, mom you just gotta suck it up! So that's what I'm trying to do. It's tough, but that's what I gotta do.
I appreciate all your comments and kind encouragements and thanks for stopping by to see me, even if my blog fell by the wayside for awhile. I'll try to be more diligent, otherwise, nobody will come to see me! Have a great day all my friends! Vickie

The garden is so beautiful thus far. It is suppose to freeze here in Southern Kentucky tonight. My sweet husband bought me 2 Boston ferns and we had to bring them in the house because we were afraid we would loose them. I am so glad to hear from you. ....Wishing you a beautiful tomorrow

I'm so glad you are feeling well enough to do some planting. Your flowers are beautiful. I've not bought any flowers this year because we are moving soon. I may have to plant some in containers though. I miss them.

Hello Vickie! I'm so glad to see a post from you. I've been worried about you.
Everything at the farm looks great and that pup is a cutie. Wish I could help you with the chewing - just be glad she isn't in to wood like ours was. I'm talking kitchen chairs, dining room table and chairs, baseboards - you get the picture. She finally got to where she doesn't do it too much but she is six years old. One of the granddogs likes to chew wood to and made a lovely spot on my new dining room chairs.
So good to see you posting.
Hugs,
Tina

Bella 2 is so adorable! I am delighted that you got another pup and somewhere along the way, I missed that information.

The garden is gorgeous...the colors are, as you say, divine, the property looks marvelous...so green and beautiful with lots of trees.

I don't know about the "sucking it up" part, but I do know that there is always a way through by following the One who leads us through these tough times. So glad to know that you want company again! :D

In order to keep the birds from eating your fruit - hang some old CDs around in the tree - the reflection while they swing in the breeze keeps the birds away.

Hi Vickie!
So glad to see your back. Your pics are great. Love your cutie putie pup. The weeds in my garden are growing faster than the vegetables I planted. I think I need to go pull weeds tomorrow before they completely take over. Come back and visit and I will be keeping in touch with you.

Hugs :)

I'm glad your feeling better. I missed your posts. Your farm is beautiful, thanks for the tour. I worked all weekend on my flower gardens at home that I haven't had a chance to start the vegetable garden at my father's home. There's not enough hours in the day right now. Take it easy and stay well.

Hey Vickie, so glad you came to visit me. I also have purple hull peas, corn, cucumbers & squash in my garden. thank you for the wonderful compliment on my flowers, for I love to work in the garden. I love the pic of Belle 2 in the flower pot, I bet she is a real mischievous puppy. I notice you have lots of sun, that will be great for growing roses. We use to have a lot of shade until Katrina. She took alot of our beautiful oak trees. Loove the deck. Please visit often and may the Lord bless your day.

Hugs, RoseMarie
