We had a busy, busy weekend. We got up early Saturday and did about 10 hours working on the garden, the flower beds, the yard at the farm. We have about 6-7 giant catalpa trees and they have just about finished dropping their footlong beanpods all over the yard. I HATE catalpa trees, but if we didn't have those we'd just have the big oak and the sycamore and some china berry trees (which I also hate). SO, we raked as much as we could, burned most of it, and mulched a bunch more. And all those huge beanpods open up and these little fuzzy white seedlings float all around everywhere and sprout in our sugar sand. Such a mess. We're constantly going around pulling up little sprouts. The china berries are doing the same thing. YUCK.
Anyway, we worked hard raking and doing all our stuff. I planted my rows of carrot seeds. I had to wait until the moon was waning. I've had 'em for a couple of weeks but that was the first chance I got to plant them. We had a really good rain Sunday night through early this morning so everything I have planted to now got a good soaking. I hope those little carrot seeds didn't wash away... My tulips and lilies are coming up and my wagon of pansies has never looked better. The snow and cold kept them kinda sickly looking but they kept popping back out and now since it's a bit warmer they're beautiful. Here's a pic that I took a couple of weeks ago, but they're all twice as big now and overflowing out of the wagon - I'll try to get a current photo!
We grilled hamburgers Saturday night for us and Josh and his girlfriend. They were so good. Flash forwards me to summertime! Yea, it's almost here - at least spring is! We're having 75 degree temps today!!! Another shower for tomorrow and then several days of nice gardening weather.
Sunday, we went to church, and then the rest of the day we spent at my MIL's house cleaning up and getting the furniture moved out, the rest of the wallpaper off, etc. The mud-guys and painters and the roofer are coming later this week to start their stuff and Sunday afternoon was the only day to do it. We were going to do the bulk of it ourselves, but when the roofer told us that he had a mud crew and a painting crew as well as excellent references, we decided to JUST GIT ER DUN. We hope to put it up for rent in the next month or two. Rental income will help us pay for MIL's care at the memory care facility. It's very expensive...
NEWS FLASH!!! I'm coming up on my 200th post! I can't believe it! I'm planning a giveaway and plan to make it very special because I let my 100th post get away from me. So stay tuned. I think this is post #193. May be a little premature to announce it, but I want to give you guys plenty of time warning! Let me get my thoughts together about what I'm gonna do, and I'll be back in touch to announce the winning prize!!! I want it to be special because you all have enriched my life so much & given in so many ways to me, and I want you all to know how very precious you are to me. This is an outstanding group of women, friends and family that I have here in bloglandia & so I simply must do something befitting this great group of gals!

Hey Vickie! Sounds like you have had a lot going on lately. Glad to hear that your MIL is doing better and is feeling up to a fish dinner. YUM! Nothin better than good ole Southern fried fish.
Can't wait to see what you have in store for your giveaway. I sure did enjoy mine. Becky at Holiday in the Sun sure seemed to like my handmade goodies. Going to hook you up with something when I see ya this summer. I can't wait! So excited.
Hugs,
Tara
Wow, sounds like you need a vacation from your weekend. It's so good that you're taking out your MIL for her birthday even if she won't remember it much. The heart remembers what the mind forgets!
Oh boy, I love that first grilled hamburger after winter! I love the pansies in the little wagon too..so cute! I like the pic of you and the hub and the MIL..she looks like a sweet lady! Come say hi :D
Hi Vickie. I'm so jealous that you are planting already! We will get to plan soon here in MO. I love the pansies in the wagon very cute. I'm getting ready to celebrate my 200th post too and I also let my 100th go by. Not sure what I'm going to do yet either.
Have a great day.
Jackie
What a full weekend! I'm tired out, just reading it.
And so good of you to be so sweet to your MIL. I'm so sorry she needs this care. And of course, it's expensive. -le sigh-
Gentle hugs.............
Oh do have a happy time this evening with your mother-in-law. She looks so cute with her pretty grin. Perhaps her spirit will remember...
You've the patience of Job to put up with foot-long bean pod thingies everywhere. It'd be goodbye to those kind of trees for me. UGH. I've got to Google this tree because I have no idea what I'm talking about.
Happy almost 200 posts!
Hi Vickie:
No, I don't mind reading blogs with just text. Thats why I don't post a lot cause I don't have any pictures to go with my jabber mouth. lol.
You were a busy gal last weekend. I wish I had your energy.
I like the pic of you and your hubby and m.i.l. Your hubby looks just like a younger version of my brother. I thought I was seeing Joe for a minute. (my brother)
I am so jealous of your warm weather. We are getting snow again today. I want some global warming, lol.
Just go over to giblet's blog and steal her pictures! You have been a busy lady. Glad to hear someone is having warm weather; ours is improving!

Hi Vickie!
It sounds like you had a wonderful time at the farm! I love the wagon filled with pansies, I can hardly wait to get my hands dirty!
I'm sure that your MIL loves you as much as you love her - she looks like such a sweet lady - catfish is one of my favorite too! It's so sad when they start losing their memory, we just love them and want it to be okay, don't we? You are such a good DIL!
Have a wonderful week, and don't work too hard!
Blessings and hugs,
Barb

I love your little wagon filled with flowers. We managed to get into the 70's today and it was beautiful! Now to see some budding trees and some sprigs of green grass. Oh I can't wait!
The Fraker Farm is one of my favorite blogs to visit. I love seeing what Paula's farm critters are up to. Oh and to answer your question yes reading blogs does count! lol
Take Care :)
I guess I can loan you some pictures, since you're my good buddy, and Chicklet says to get on over. LOVED LOVED LOVED the picture of you three. Lovely lovely lovely!!!
We cut down the only catalpa tree on our property. Thank goodness we don't have chinaberry, but we have sweetgum and pine with all the sweetgum balls and pinecones and needles. You should see my rake piles!
Wake up! I'm going to bed. It's 1:30.
Your weekend sounds productive and you sure are in the mood for summer! The hamburgers must have been delicious . I always like the idea of hiring someone to just "git'er done" but we still pretty much do everything ourselves, sigh. One day!
Good morning Vickie, I loved reading about your fun and productive weekend.
Your MIL has the sweetest smile,(great picture!) she really looks like a loving and sweet lady. I hope the birthday celebration was wonderful.....and I hope she'll remember it, but if not, good for the moment.
