I LAID AN EGG!

Well, I feel like I did!  Just Look!!!

A DOUBLE-YOLKER!!!

My Rhode Island Red hen laid this egg and believe me - it was JUMBO in size.  I've worked so hard at taking care of the chickens and making sure they get lots of scraps and greens and ranging about in the yard - And I guess it's paid off!  They haven't been laying that long!  It was a huge egg, and I saved it and fixed it for myself this morning.  I figured, I've done all the hard work (except laying the egg :) so I get to eat it!

Been working on a few little pieces of artwork.  These were some quick little paintings I did today.  I'm trying to do some to sell if I can.  Hayley's having a sale on her re-furbished vintage/western style furniture and she wanted me to do some things for her sale.  Only problem is - she wants to keep whatever I paint!  That defeats the purpose - I'll do her some after her sale is over...

I didn't take pictures of the process - they were moving rather quickly and I just went ahead and hurried them done.  See whatcha thank.... the first is a 12x12, gallery-wrapped 1" sides painted, stapled in the back...

Next up - "Longhorn"  16x20, 1" gallery-wrapped sides painted, stapled in the back...

Trying to get a little funky with the colors here - trying my best to loosen up - I paint SO TIGHT!!!

Well, That's about all for tonight.  Going to a birthday lunch tomorrow and then I'll come home and try to get some more painting done.

Have a good 'un!

Vickie - Congratulations on the Double Yolk!! Those are so EXCITING! Real Whoppers! And your work is fascinating, I love your perspective in color. Keep it up! It's so wonderful to see you doing things that you love to do! I'm trying to make more time for me to do things I love as well. Sometimes us moms/wives/etc., get lost in other roles that we forget to just be ourselves. Thanks for helping to inspire me! Yes...I do love those colors!

Love your paintings, but I'd not call your other style "tight" or if you do, I'd say "tight" is great. Ha!

So how did it taste? That beautiful double yolker!

woo hoo on the "omelet in a shell" well done! I like the funkier colors of longhorn - - hen and chicks - so safe and comforting

YAY for the double-yolker, Vickie! And the nice thing is, you can look for more in the future from her. Most of the time if a hen is able to lay eggs like that when they're young, she will do it throughout her life. (Good news for you, bad for her bum! *haha)
Your artwork is gorgeous, my friend... I think the colors are just stunning! (The little chickies even look fuzzy! *squeal*)

I want the chicken picture! Wow, you really captured chickens in paint.

The double-yolker is such a treat to crack open, isn't it? I feel like a kid at an Easter egg hunt every time I gather eggs from my chickens, and this was the prize of the hunt!

Missed this....

That chickie and her little ones are great. If that's an example of being tight (with your painting)... WEll, I like your "tight." :-)
