Thank you all for your condolences and encouragement as we grieve the passing of Tony's dad. We are all doing well, as the Lord comforts us as He promised. I know those times will come when we think of him, or Tony says he gonna ask his dad something or have the first Father's Day without him or the first Christmas. It's going to be hard at times. Tony has a great attitude about it all.

We all went out to the farm yesterday afternoon just to do something "normal" for a change, and of course carried Tony's mom with us. We're trying to keep her busy. She's doing better remembering about her husband. Adam and Pop (my dad) went fishing yesterday and caught 17 good eatin' size bass. So we had a fish fry and overindulged. (My puffy ankles are evidence to that today - all that good salty fish and fries and hushpuppies.)

We can't hardly look at the farm without thinking of Bepa. His family were the original owners and now it's been passed down to us. He was always so anxious to see what projects we were doing while we were restoring the house, and clearing and digging the garden. He loved to ride around in the truck and look at the land. My husband likes to quote Jett Rink on the movie "Giant" and say, "you can ride around on this land all day long and never see it all". We have only 78 acres, but he still likes to say it. The next project was for Tony and his dad to go buy a tractor and build a tractor barn. I guess Tony will be doing that alone. I know he'll be thinking about his dad.

Well, anyway, I couldn't let this photo pass ya'll up. After supper last evening, we were all sitting on the front porch enjoying our redneck entertainment for the evening. "You might be a redneck if..." (I'll let the photo speak for itself - )

Hmm so we aren't white trash 'cause we shoot at squirrels instead of moles or gophers? LOL - you are a real Texan Vickie. Yes it hurts a lot - we are not quite through the first full year since MIL died -Mother's Day we probably won't go to church - just too painful, I'm good with the truth she is with Jesus - but don't need to put salt in the wound in our lives about not having moms anymore. Give your Tony a big hug - we've been there and it is hard but good memories and taking care of what his dad gave to you - that's a legacy!

Ha ha! My Hubby was sitting by the pond waiting for those dastardly crows to fly low enough for him to shoot. He is just sooooooo happy sitting with his gun waiting to shoot. Did you get any gophers?

The fish fry sounds delicious and I think it is so special you can take your husband's mom to the farm for a good day of fun and memories!

Would Adam like to come up here and sit around taking pot shots at vultures? Boy could I ever use him!

It is good to read that you are coping and moving through this time. Yes, it's good to recognize that there will be som sad times ahead, but that the Lord will be a comfort in them all.

The best thing you can do for your loved one is to remember how much he wants you all to thrive and be happy. He does!

Keeping you and family in prayer.

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Tony's dad. I will pray for Tony's mom and all of your family for peace and comfort. Sounds like this man was someone to behold..a good Christian man now at the feet of his Lord and Saviour. How fortunate you are to have the farm and keep it going. What an honor.
God's Blessings to all,

Oh my goodness, too funny. I loved your comment you left on my blog. I know what you mean about getting every thing done to make a farm a farm. We only have 13 acres and I don't know how you manage 78! We still have not acquired a tractor and would really like to get one to be able to do more things. One step at a time, right? blessings,Kathleen

I'm sorry about the death in your family. It appears that you are doing a lot of very kind, fun things to help when you can. I love the "redneck stuff", it makes me feel right at home. You left me a comment (thank you!) about getting rid of ants and the soap and water treatment really doesn't affect the ants. You might go to a feed store or farm co-op store and find some strong molasses. It is supposed to really work.
