I'm still here! I'm still alive! I got over my "crud" finally. (thank you Vee for checking on me...) I'm just busy-busy with the house, the wedding AND...
Hubby's mom fell AGAIN, and broke the same leg/hip that she broke in April of last year! Bless her heart, with her memory problems, she forgets or refuses to use her walker and she fell last Thursday in her bathroom at the Alz. care home and now is in the hospital. They did major surgery to repair her leg/hip and had to replace the pin with another longer pin and screws and cables - Oh, I don't know what all. I hate it so badly for her! It's hard to help her understand what's going on and why she's hurting. I think she'll be in a nursing home for a couple of months while healing and we'll see what to do from there. They've got her on pain meds right now, so she's groggy, but I'm hoping that she'll be feeling better soon.
And the wedding... well, lots of you know what we're dealing with here. April 30 is coming up very soon, and as usual, I'm running behind, and still have lots to do for the rehearsal dinner, etc. It's coming together and it's going to be beautiful. I can't wait! I could have searched the world over and I couldn't have found a better match for my son - well, of course, you dummy! God brought them together so I had nothing to do with it! If you knew our lives you'd know this is a "God" thing! I love this sweet young lady SO much!
I DID find another gal to help at my office so that's a HUGE relief for me. I hope she likes it here. She's really doing well, and I hope to keep her for a long time. She's young with two little girls (but her mom keeps them for her). Normally, I wouldn't want to hire someone with kids cuz they're always calling in sick, but since they stay with their grandmother, it's a little different. We'll see what happens!
I'm SO anxious to get out in my garden! There just hasn't been much time. I was hoping to get out there and get some seed beds in last weekend, but life happens, and family comes first so... maybe in another week or two. It's still early to some of you, but I'm chompin' at the bit here. I usually already have my potatoes in, already have my onions in, and beginning to get peas and beans in the ground. My fruit trees have already flowered and are leafing out as well as the rose bushes. The daffodils are fading away, and believe it or not - we've already seen the crane flies and a few mosquitos on the muggy nights.
We have a huge old oak tree that spreads out over our deck and back yard and the birds have eaten all the little berries off of it and have pooped seeds all over the deck. Problem is, they stick like glue and I may have to get the power washer out to get all those seeds off. They're stuck all over the metal chairs, too! Besides, the mistletoe just falls and drops pieces of itself all over the place, too. So messy! The clovery grasses are coming up everywhere with little purple flowery thingies and the lawnmower is in the shop! Our yards need a haircut already!
I found a little bitty turtle in my hydrangea bed, but went back later and it was dead. I wondered if the crows brought it over there or something. I thoroughly detest the crows. Do you know they can take the lid off a garbage can and rummage through the trash and make a big ole mess on the ground!!! I sat and watched 'em do a while back and they disappeared about the time I appeared with my son's pellet gun. Shoot!
All this to say that SPRING IS WELL ON ITS WAY here at Sand Flat Farm! And I'm smilin' and so happy about it! Now if I could just find some time to get out in the garden...
PS - I've read several good blog posts on all the tragedies happening across the Pacific Ocean from us in Japan. It's so sad. If you haven't been by her blog, Debbie at Of His Pasture had a great post today about Japan, a wonderful book about a brave Christian woman, and letting God watch over her kids while they are in Japan. Stop by there and check out this post. After you do that, jump over to my other Debbie's blog, Wisdom, and read her post about not panicking in these troubled times and that what happened in Japan is just History in the Making. We are to put our trust and faith in the Lord. His children do not have to worry about these things. Both of these posts today helped me put into words what we should be doing and what we should be praying about. I am so thankful to have met so many Christian women friends in blogland that I can count on to lift me up daily. These gals are just two of them. Thank you one and all for your encouragement and your prayers. I thank God for you all. Have a great week, my lovelies!

Ok, thank you, Chickie...I was wondering what was happening that way. So sorry to hear that MIL is down again! I'll certainly put her and you all on my prayer list. I guess I missed out on the employment opportunity :( Glad you found someone and hope it works out. If not, call me. Love ya and TTYL!
Your poor mother-in-law... (I remember well the days when we didn't understand why Nan wouldn't use her walker. Now I'm convinced that she simply forgot; it wasn't a matter of being stubborn about it.) Will pray for her to have some relief and lots of clarity (when the time is right) so that these mishaps can be avoided. I imagine that the home will be putting her on some sort of alarm system.
Busy times for you with the wedding date coming up. The bride and her family must be busy on the case as well. It does take a lot of teamwork.
Yay for good help at the office!
I'm off to read your links... Anyone who has a good word about trying times is my kind of gal.
(My blog hasn't been updating for days so just visit me whenever you feel like it. I'm probably there at the door with the coffee pot in my hand.)
Can get to "Wisdom," but can not get to "Of His Pasture." It takes me to my own profile. Weird. This is the second time that's happened to me while trying to follow a link, but the first time was at a different blog. It doesn't take much to have me shaking my head. Since I can't use Google anymore, a major snafu, my little BING search engine refuses to take me to "OHP."
I feel for your MIL and all of you, as family, dealing with such a health issue. It takes a lot of energy. I'll add her to my prayers.
You are busy as a bee, girl! Your photos are so beautiful!! Love 'em.
Hope things settle down a bit for you so you have some time to dig in the dirt... blessings ~ tanna
Oh Vickie, I'm so sorry to hear about your MIL's fall....bless her heart and yours too. For someone with memory problems, it seems as though anesthesia and being in the hospital really does a 'number' on them. I'm praying for her.
Our granddaughter is getting married this Saturday evening. I'm so excited and a bit anxious, hoping David can handle the busy day.
It's good to hear that you're well.... you sure need to be well right now with your busy events.
Hugs,
You poor thing. Sounds like you're meetin yourself coming and going. I was sorry to hear about your MIL; sounds like she has some difficult work ahead of her.I'm not surprised you're running the weeding race; been there, done that. Just wait till it's Princess! LOL! I wanted that job too, along with Giblet, but Loyd said it was too far away, even though I promised to come home and see him for Christmas and Easter :D THanks for the link to my blog. Hope it blesses someone!
Hugs, Deb
So glad you've surfaced and are feeling better!!!
Gentle hugs...
So sorry to hear about your MIL.
Glad to hear that you are feeling better now.
I really enjoyed reading your post and it reminds me to put GOD in my life daily.
Have a nice day and do take care.
Miss Vickie- I've missed you! So glad you're feeling better now, but so sorry about your MIL... that is so sad.
It sounds like you've been keeping busy... (Ha! I'm sure that's an UNDERSTATEMENT!)
I read Debbie's wonderful post- I'll have to visit the other Debbie too. I agree with you, one of the best things about blogging for me has been meeting so many wonderful Christian women- some who have been such an encouragement to me!
Hey Girl...Sounds like you are living your life in the face mode.
I am so glad that you are feeling better, but please don't let yourself get run down.
so sorry to hear about your mother-in-law....I know this is difficult.
don't forget, I'm just around the corner if you need a helping hand..
Blessings,
Shug
So glad you are feeling better and found a person to hire! I loved this chatty post even though it took me three attempts today to get through it...because that is the kind of day I am having. Bu...sy!!
Both in and out of the house. But I so wanted to see what is going on at your place!
Here's to hoping you get to spend some quality time in the garden and that all of the wedding plans get done in good time.
Hugs,
Becky K.
Hi Vickie, I'm so sorry to hear about your MIL, but glad to hear that you are feeling better! You are one busy lady right now and it's wonderful you have help at the office. Spring is on the way and you are way ahead of us in TX. We had snow again yesterday here in MO, but it's warmed up today and it all left quickly. I'm anxious to get to the work outside in the fresh air! Love your photos, the last one especially. Take care!
Good to see you posting again! Sorry to hear about your mother in law, hope she gets better and stops falling. Blessings,Kathleen
Sorry about your mother-in-law, mine is 95 and she has fallen a couple of times, she is still living on her own, but we know that won't be long.
Oh the wedding...enjoy!!! How much fun, I am hoping it won't be long before we are doing it again.
I can't wait to see your garden this year.
Glad you are feeling better.
Thanks for the blogs on Japan, the people of Japan have been on my heart and prayers.
Looking forward to your gardening adventures - DH and I have decided he'll be the gardener in charge this year - I've done a rotten job in recent years and with his illness he has to be home most of the time anyhow. Hoping for enough tomatoes to can but first is the clean up (fireants infested all my containers) and prep - for which I need some rested up and pep!
Glad you got rid of the crud and it sure wouldn't be Spring if there wasn't lots to do would it? Congratulations to your son and to you for getting a new daughter in the very near future!
